I've been a number of things in my life - student, athlete, graphic designer, and policy wonk, to name a few - and though I've been fairly successful in those past ventures, nothing has captured my imagination as much as photography. It's a job that doesn't feel like work because I would do it one way or another even if I wasn't being paid. In fact, that's how it started: as a hobby that gradually took on a life of its own.
Today, I work as a freelance photographer based in Washington, DC, covering important events on Capitol Hill, at the White House, and in far-flung countries around the world. My photos have been published in TIME, Newsweek, the New York Times, USA Today, and the Washington Post, to name a few. You can get a sense of that side of my life by visiting www.primecollective.com, a group of photojournalists of which I am a part.
To me, weddings and photojournalism are a perfect match; in fact, I've recently joined the Wedding Photojournalist Association. Wedding photography is a pleasure for me because it allows me to do what I love: create meaningful pictures that tell a story with emotion and visual impact.
